Bridgetown Sextet

Vintage Hot Jazz from Portland, OR

The New Old Fashioned

The Bridgetown Sextet, Portland’s premier 1920s and 30s jazz and swing band, presents a new monthly event, The New Old Fashioned, a monthly “jazz age party” on the second Sunday afternoon of the month at the cozy and classy Tango Berretin in SE Portland.

The event will feature live vintage jazz with the Sextet, space for dancing and for listening, DJ-d 78rpm records, local beer and wine, and an opportunity to celebrate the good-time music and spirit of the 1920s. The New Old Fashioned will also bring more live music and a new community-friendly weekend event to the Foster Rd. area which has developed into a vibrant neighborhood commercial area over the past decade. The event will kick off at 3pm, with live music from the Bridgetown Sextet from about 3:30-5:30. In future months, there are also plans for guest musicians, social dancing lessons, and more.

The New Old Fashioned will be a fun and relaxed way to spend a Sunday afternoon – ideal for jazz fans, swing and social dancers, vintage enthusiasts, and anyone interested in a celebration of the energetic, catchy, and timeless style of 1920s and 30s jazz.
